Finding a good kennel is a real challenge. Then we met Birgit and Nicolas while walking our two dogs, Pete and Riley, in the park. They told us they were opening a kennel here in Porters Lake, so we were keenly interested as normally we would board them in Cape Breton when we went away. In July prior to their kennel opening we took Pete and Riley for a visit to check it out and they loved it. Birgit and Nicolas made us welcome and we could tell they have a passion for caring for dogs. What a find – great kennel and great people! Pete and Riley stayed there while we were away in August and I am sure if they could talk they would tell you they had a great time too.

It's rare that you can find a kennel that your dogs actually want to go to and get excited as soon as they see their “babysitter”, but from the very first time I left my dogs with Birgit and Nicholas, my dogs found their “home away from home”. Birgit is so amazing with dogs and the energy she gives off is what keeps my dogs happy and comfortable and wanting to go back every time. It's such a relief to know Birgit loves your dogs as much as you do and gives them the attention they need when you are unable to. To have found a Boarding/DayCare where the owners actually play and spend time with your dogs and genuinely care makes all the difference in the world. The DogHouse is hands down the best place I've come across for watching my dogs!
